Short term, it's a good trade for Denver. But then again, can Melo play ball with another ball hogger? Something has to give in order for then to develop chemistry. Iverson would need to become a better playmaker and distribute the ball more than shooting. Two shooting title contenders on the same team could create weird friction.
As for the 76er's, they freed up alot of salary cap and a chance to rebuild for the future. Iverson was essentially a ruined player and the inevitability of the breakup was in the making the past several months.
Do I think this trade will help Denver make the playoffs? Absolutely! Will they make it pass 1st round? Only if Melo and Iverson play team ball.
